30ft Hand-Crafted Yurt
One of our largest free-standing yurts, this 30ft structure creates a space that is genuinely stunning. Light and airy doesn’t even begin to describe the magnificent interior that brings together traditional Kyrgyz design with exceptional British workmanship. Hand-built in Devon by Yurts For Life’s talented craftsmen, each wooden component is carefully selected from sustainable sources and expertly made into a dwelling that maximises both space and natural beauty.
Materials and Construction
The frame features premium steam-bent ash construction with 68 roof ribs each measuring 4.43m, creating the distinctive curved profile. The 6’6″ diameter steam-bent ash crown wheel forms the structural heart of the yurt, supporting the entire roof system. Every wooden element is hand-sanded and oil-treated for longevity. The cotton-polyester canvas blend provides full waterproofing with fire-retardant properties, whilst the star-shaped roof cap features a clear PVC window for natural overhead lighting.
Year-Round Usage
The foundation summer configuration extends across seasons with thoughtful additions. Add a 5kW log burner and Dandy-Dura carpet for 2-season use from May to September. For full 4-season capability, incorporate thermal lining and winter cover protection. The 65 square metre interior, with its impressive 4.12m peak height, maintains excellent air circulation and natural light penetration through all seasons.
Space and Layout
This expansive 65 square metre circular space adapts to ambitious uses. The 4.12m high central ceiling creates a cathedral-like atmosphere, whilst the practical 1.51m wall height ensures comfortable movement throughout. The generous circular layout supports various arrangements:
- Large gatherings: The space accommodates 70 people seated at tables or 120 standing guests. The round design naturally facilitates large-scale social interaction and creates an inclusive atmosphere for significant events.
- Yoga and wellness: Comfortably holds 12-21 yoga mats with abundant clear floor space for movement and instruction. The exceptional central height offers complete freedom for standing poses and group activities.
- Commercial dining: Restaurant seating for 72 people using 5’6″ tables, creating an atmospheric dining environment that guests will remember.
The circular design eliminates all unused corner spaces, whilst the soaring domed roof structure maximises usable interior volume. Each dimension works in harmony to create a space that feels dramatically larger than its already generous footprint suggests.
