40ft Hand-Crafted Yurt

At 12m diameter, this impressive structure creates our most substantial free-standing space, suitable for wedding receptions, parties and al fresco dining, whatever the weather. Hand-built in Devon by Yurts For Life’s talented craftsmen, this enormous dwelling represents the pinnacle of traditional construction techniques applied to modern commercial requirements.
Materials and Construction
The frame features extraordinary steam-bent ash construction with 90 curved roof ribs each measuring 3.57m, plus 45 straight ash ribs of 2.63m, creating the distinctive profile that defines this monumental structure. The dual crown wheel system features one 6’6″ diameter steam-bent ash wheel plus one 20ft wheel, providing exceptional structural support. Every wooden element is hand-sanded and oil-treated for longevity. The cotton-polyester canvas blend provides full waterproofing with fire-retardant properties, whilst the star-shaped roof cap features a clear PVC window for natural overhead lighting.
Year-Round Usage
The foundation summer configuration extends across seasons with thoughtful additions. Add a 12kW log burner and Dandy-Dura carpet for 2-season use from May to September. For all year-round capability, incorporate the thermal lining. The 113 square metre interior, with its towering 5.02m peak height, maintains excellent air circulation and natural light penetration through all seasons.
Space and Layout
This vast 113 square metre circular space adapts to the most ambitious commercial ventures. The 5.02m high central ceiling creates an absolutely commanding atmosphere, whilst the practical 1.51m wall height ensures comfortable movement throughout. The enormous circular layout supports large-scale arrangements:
