Podded 20ft and 10ft Hand-Crafted Yurt with En-suite Loo
Our podded yurts bring together Kyrgyz architectural heritage with modern materials. The steam-bent ash frame creates a rounded roof shape with increased headroom compared to Mongolian designs. Each wooden component starts its journey in West Country estates, traveling just a few miles from tree to finished dwelling.
Materials and Construction
The frame combines steam-bent ash wooden ribs, trellis, and crown wheel, hand-sanded and oil-treated for longevity. Modern polycotton canvas replaces traditional felt, offering full waterproofing with rot resistance and fire-retardant properties. This combination maintains structural integrity against British weather conditions. The canvas cover comes with a Forest Green Starcap, Sand Roof, Walls and Wall-Band. The Groundsheet is Olive in colour and the Sand Canvas walls have an Olive PVC Mudcloth.
Year-Round Usage
The basic summer configuration adapts to colder seasons with additional layers. Waterproof winter covers (Light Sand in colour), thermal linings, and wood-burning stoves (in both yurts) extend usage through autumn and winter. The total interior square meterage is 42.5m虏 including the Entrance Porch and En-suite Loo. The 20ft Yurt peaks at 3.34m, allowing natural light through the cotton-polyester canvas, via a PVC window over the wheel.
Space and Layout
This setup is ideal for multiple uses. The 3.34m high central ceiling creates an open atmosphere, while the practical wall height allows easy movement throughout. The podded layout supports various arrangements:
- Social gatherings: The space accommodates 30 people seated at tables or 50 standing guests in the larger 20ft Yurt. With the 10ft yurt providing a space for a bar or prep area. The round design naturally encourages social interaction and conversation.
- Bedroom setup: Sleeping for up to 6 people, up to 4 in the 20ft yurt and 2 in the 10ft yurt in luxury. It can accommodate more people sleeping cosy and ideal for large group sleep if you use bunk beds!
- Studio arrangement: The 20ft comfortably holds 8-10 yoga mats with clear floor space for movement and instruction with an en-suite loo and the 10ft as either an office space of 1 to 1s. The central height offers freedom for standing poses in both yurts.
The circular design eliminates unused corner spaces, while the domed roof structure maximises usable interior volume. Each dimension works together to create a space that feels larger than its footprint suggests.
